Every South Dakotan should have access to free or affordable healthcare.

I will fight to ensure rural areas have the money needed to keep their local healthcare facilities not only up and running but ensure that they are thriving.

• The massive legislation passed by the federal government in 2025 cut the money that South Dakota was receiving for Medicare and Medicaid subsidies.​

• This money is not just used to assist people with healthcare costs, but also to help keep rural healthcare facilities open.

  • According to the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) 20% of hospitals in South Dakota ran in the negative margin before the ACA cuts.​

  • Rural hospitals will close as a result of this bill if we don't find a way to fund these facilities.

• We need to supplement these dollars or an estimated 20,000 South Dakotans will become uninsured. (Findings from a 2025 KFF analysis)

I believe medical decisions should be made between a medical professional and the patient, not legislation.
